Topics of interest: Cell Membrane Dymanics, Fluorescence and Raman Imaging, Spectroscopy, Thin Films

The main objectives of the Smith research group are accomplished through a combination of analytical measurements, instrument and method development. Our research focuses include nanomaterials that can be used in energy capture devices, plant biomass that may be utilized for fuels and commodity chemicals, and understanding the molecular events that lead to the organization and dynamics of the cell membrane. We achieve our goals through a number of collaborations with other chemists and biologists.
