BioOur group’s research emphasizes the discovery and characterization of complex metal-rich compounds by exploratory synthesis, X-ray diffraction, and electronic structure calculations. We study a variety of compound types, ranging from network solids to quasicrystals, and two primary themes are to identify the factors influencing the distributions and arrangements of chemical elements in complex chemical structures, and to examine factors that lead to spontaneous magnetization and magnetically ordered structures.
